As promised, here is the information about coconut oil.
Let's just start out with the internal benefits first. Coconut oil has a very low melting point. This is the oil that you keep in the refrigerator if you like it firm, because if the temp rises about 73 degrees, its spreading like butter....
Coconut oil has been shown to assist with weight loss. But only in moderation. It has been shown to ease digestion. The antimicrobial properties helps decrease bad bacteria and yeast. These two can wreak havoc on your system. It also helps with gas and bloating. (Huge concerns for the person with Autism)
Coconut oil is a great facial moisturizer. It assists the skins connective tissue stay strong which helps decrease the rate of fine lines, sagging and wrinkles.
Now on to the hair...
Coconut oil is filled with MCT or medium chain triglycerides that assists with hair health and strength. The Lauric Acid in this oil is also an antibacterial. What this means is that coconut oil decreases dandruff and scalp yeast that tends to decrease your scalp health. Coconut oil makes hair feel and appear thicker by increasing the body of your hair. The Vitamin E and Vitamin K that the coconut contains helps to nourish the scalp and hair. The molecular weight lends itself to being easily absorbed into the hair shaft. When you mist your hair with water, then seal that water in with coconut oil, your hair stays soft all day. Now, because oil blocks water, if you do it the other way around, oil then water, your hair will remain dry....
Cocnut oil is great as a pre-poo and a post-poo. Co-wash in between. Perform scalp massages with coconut oil, rosemary essential oil and ylang ylang essential oil. The essential oils will aid in her growth and the massage itself will increase the blood flow to the bulbs of your hair. This will increase your hair growth potential. Keeping your hair moist will decrease the breakage of your hair and thus, it has a longer growth phase.
