Shampooing VS Co-Wash... Is your scalp really Clean?

Hello World!

So being a all natural girl, I've looked at many YouTube posts to see which way is the best way to clean your hair and scalp. Now you will get varying ideas, depending on who you follow. Napturals85 even uses clay, also known as mud, to cleanse her hair, and it is beautiful. Very healthy and very long. The product she used was Terressentials Mud wash. I've used it as well, but as always, there is a trick. You have to detox your hair to get all of the silicone's and alcohols out of your hair. If you don't, you will have a big nappy mess. Now she makes her own, which of course, is much more economical.

But back to the subject at hand....
When you use shampoo, you run the risk of stripping your hair of all of its oils. When your hair is stripped, it tangles easily and is very prone to breakage. By the time you get it oiled back up, its time to wash it again. They have silicone free shampoo that states they don't strip your hair, but the fact is, they don't strip your hair as much. An example of those shampoos would be in the Deva curl line and AsIAM line. To see an example, you can click on the eBay link on this page and see what those products look like and also get a look at the prices. Some of these can be a little steep, but I heard you get great results. Now, I have tried all of these products without the results that I was looking for, but back then, I really didn't know what I was doing with my hair and I had turned into a product junkie by then. If it didn't make my hair look like the picture, then it was a fail for me. My scalp felt clean, and my hair was horrible.

Co-washing, I'm not quite sold on that either. The beauty of co-washing is that you don't strip your hair and you also add moisture, which increases the elasticity. As you know, that decreases breakage. In case this is a new process for you, let me explain. You wet your hair and apply nothing but conditioner. You massage your scalp, loosening the dirt and rinse all of the debris away. With this process, you are also able to finger detangle your hair while you cleanse. That process takes some getting used to, but you have to be about that life. Sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not. It's a very tedious process but if you are diligent, then you are able to save your hair from a lot of breakage. By the same token, you really pay attention to your hair. Because you are running your fingers through it, you can tell when your ends need to be trimmed more easily. My scalp felt clean most of the time, but my hair felt great. I just had to wash it more often

With co-washing, you notice that you have more product build up, so you'll have to add another process, and that is the apple cider vinegar rinse. That removes the product build up with out stripping your hair.

My plan is to learn to video blog, so that you all will be able to see exactly what I'm talking about when I discuss these products.
